Before the 2010 Election
in North Carolina
Democrats had controlled one or both houses of the North Carolina General Assembly for 140 years.
The "good ole boys" had their back room deals; they had gerrymandered the state house and senate districts, as well as the congressional districts, so they could re-elect themselves.
Corruption was rampant...North Carolina Democrat leaders were either being indicted or carted off to jail.
The pigs were fat and happy at the trough...the trough of the North Carolina taxpayer
...and it was time for a change.
Wake Up America Engages
Wake Up America produced some hard hitting ads to draw attention to the corruption in the state, the threat of Obama, and the threat of the federal government in our lives. The TV ads ran on the major Fox News stations in the state as well as the major network channel news programs.
Over 750,000 voters viewed the ads...and the voters gave us a big "thumbs up...140-plus years of liberal rule gone...enter Conservative Leadership!!!

The Result of the 2010 Election in North Carolina
For the first time in 140 years, the North Carolina General Assembly went Republican...and in dramatic fashion.

Long-time Democrat leaders like Marc Basnight of the House had their power taken away and they felt shell-shocked...it's hard to give up power when a person has had it for so long...getting kicked out of the kingdom is a hard pill to swallow...but the people sent a loud and clear message to the liberals, corruption, and careerist politicians!
The new Republican-controlled General Assembly has completed its first major lawmaking session, steering state government and policy on a Conservative course after decades of Democrat rule...requiring businesses and local governments to check any new employees' immigration status and directed the Governor to work with Virginia and South Carolina Governors to allow offshore natural gas exploration.
Republicans enacted a cost-cutting state budget two weeks ahead of the start of the fiscal year (the earliest in more than 30 years) and were even able to over-ride the Democrat Governor's veto of that budget.
And what was unthinkable before the election, the new Republican-controlled General Assembly has submitted the re-drawing of district lines for legislative and congressional seats. The shapes of districts will help determine whether Democrat or Republican candidates will have an easier or harder time winning them...and Republicans can now create some fairness in the previously gerrymandered districts for at least 10 years, until the next census.
The impact of Wake Up America and other conservative groups that ran ad campaigns cannot be understated. It is real, and it can be long-lasting...with strategic follow-up..
